Sliced pear, feta cheese, candied pecans, and red onion over a bed of mixed greens topped with a champagne pear vinaigrette. This Pear Feta and Pecan Salad is the perfect Winter salad that will complete ANY meal.
Am I the only one that is a HUGE pear fan?! I’ll admit it, I’m borderline obsessed. I love to eat them, smell them, and use them as an ingredient in any way that I can. It’s actually a component of most of my favorite fragrances as well, I guess you just know when you know! As you can probably guess from that intro, I loveeee a good pear salad and wanted to bring you the salad I’m making at least once a week at this point. As a reminder, pears are in season and tasting SO FREAKING GOOD lately. I purchase the bags of pears from Trader Joe’s and they are the perfect medium size to slice up for this salad. This dish offers all of the components that contribute to a great salad – sweet yet tart while being both soft and crunchy. This Pear Feta and Pecan Salad is the perfect addition to any protein of your choice and you’ll have a balanced meal!
Pear Salad Ingredients
- Mixed greens
- Pear (in season – Winter Fruit and Vegetable Guide)
- Feta with mediterranean herbs
- Red onion
- Candied pecans
- Champagne pear vinaigrette with gorgonzola
Nutrition Content
- This Pear Feta and Pecan Salad covers the carbohydrates and fat for the meal, all that is needed is a protein of your choice and you’ll have a balanced meal.
- Considered a high fiber option coming in at 8g per serving. This will help keep bowel movements regular and promote blood sugar control.
- I used the readymade Champagne Pear Vinaigrette With Gorgonzola dressing because not only does it taste amazing, but it’s lower in fat. I used this approach because I knew that I wanted pecans and feta cheese in the salad and this was a much needed trade off to keep the meal balanced.
Health Benefits
- Pears offer vitamin C (immune health), K (blood clotting and bone health), and potassium (muscle contraction and normal heartbeat).
- Pecans contain NO CHOLESTEROL, meaning that this is a healthy fat and not going to clog your arteries.
- Feta cheese provides phosphorus (bone and teeth health), calcium (bone and teeth health) and lots of b-vitamins (energy levels, brain function and cell metabolism).
- This salad overall is rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and is a heart healthy option.
